2024 Spray Paint Artists
Briauna Williams a self taught Acrylic artist, muralist, illustrator and community engagement artist. Williams finds inspiration within in her community, nature and exploration of spirituality. Using paint as a tool for healing and a way to tell stories. She loves to spread joy and hope through her work.
Clark Stoeckley is a multidisciplinary artist whose latest work includes photographing stray cats and painting geometric abstract murals. His art has been exhibited in the International Spy Museum (Washington DC), Pratt Manhattan Gallery (NYC), apexart (NYC) Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Emily Harvey Foundation Gallery (NYC), EIDIA House (Brooklyn), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), Hartware Medien Kunst Verein (Dortmund), Revolt Gallery (Taos), and Contemporary Art Platform (Kuwait). His work has appeared in ARTnews, VICE, Hyperallergic, Associated Press, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The Nation, MSNBC, and PBS. He earned an MFA in Performance and Interactive Media Art from Brooklyn College and a BFA in Alternative Media from Webster University. He is currently an Associate Professor of Art & Graphic Design at the American University of Kuwait, and he previously taught at Bloomfield College in New Jersey and the Brooklyn College Community Partnership.
Blockhead
Blockhead is a Chicago based graffiti artist, creating various pieces of work throughout the city and surrounding areas since 2008. Inspired by traditional graffiti styles and retro color palettes, his bold work stays up to date with the culture while paying homage to past ideas & innovators.
Melodee Strong received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Illustration and her Masters in Arts Education from the University of Minnesota. Her multifaceted practice as a Latinx artist allows her to create using a wide range of materials and techniques. Her portfolio largely consists of children’s book illustration, portraiture, community outreach projects, and murals; giving attention to diverse cultures, feminism, and social justice.
Mique Michelle is a Franco-Ontarienne, originally from West Nipissing this woman’s graffiti can be found all around the world. She uses graffiti as a way to create awareness about the oppression that visible and invisible minorities face. She is convinced that murals, as just like all elements of hip hop can offer solutions to stop the discrimination.
Simone Alexa
Simone Alexa is a mixed African American and Hawaiiana artist. Holds a BFA in Fine Arts from Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has been using spray paint to mural professionally since 2020. Themes in her art include BIPOC representation empowerment and healing through magical realism and afrofuturism.
Tom (Jay) Janssen is a Latino artist originally born in Guatemala City and is a Mayan descendant. He had his first experience with spray paint when he was eleven years old and he’s been actively working with the medium ever since then till present time. Along with large private commission murals, Tom has been a part of number of projects touching on topics such as social justice, preserving nature, teaching art and community collaboration. Tom has been painting murals professionally as a full time artist since 2020
Trace is a self-taught Minneapolis Artist who studied and sharpened his skills during periods spent living in Miami and Los Angeles. Although he returns to Miami to deliver new work to his collectors there and to show his work at the Annual Art Basel, in 2018 Trace returned to his secret studio here in the Twin Cities where he spends most of his days studying creativity and mental health. He has worked with several commercial properties of various types and sizes to create both interior and exterior murals throughout the Twin Cities. Trace’s mural work can be seen throughout the streets of Minneapolis, most notably in Uptown where he was one of the talented muralists featured in the Lynlake Street Art Festival in 2021 and 2022 as well as the chosen artist for 2022 and 2023 Lake Street Council’s Placemaking grants.
2024 Chalk Artists
Allison is the owner/operator of Creative Alley LLC, a painting business that adds vibrant hues and artistic flair to almost any surface. With an array of mediums and substrates at her disposal, she breathes life into interior and exterior walls, ceilings, streets, parking lots, fences, canvas and more. Allison has assisted with many large scale murals at Minnesota’s Largest Candystore in Jordan, MN and most recently has designed and painted two-interactive 3D wall and floor murals at Canvas Convergence in St. Louis Park, MN.
Nationwide muralist Amanda Harris is the lead artist behind Wandering Brushes. She is based in Los Angeles, but travels the country working in many mediums and specializing in street art. Known for her captivating murals and colorful 3D chalk art, her work is highly skilled, accessible and interactive.
Annmarie Geniusz is an interdisciplinary artist/illustrator living in Duluth, Minnesota. She is best known recently for my botanical illustrations, stained glass creations, and chalk murals. She is inspired by her love of the outdoors and life along the north shore of Lake Superior. She is a Canadian-American and Indigenous artist of Cree-Metis descent.
Brigid is a multi-disciplinary artist with a practice that includes design, illustration, and community-based projects. She believes art and design are powerful tools for functionally improving our experience of the world. Her use of visual art and design thinking connects people to the built environment, and to each other.
Brittany Shepler
Brittany has often been described as “a chemical engineer who chalks on the weekends”. She spends her workweek conducting research and her weekends covered in chalk dust. Brittany's curiosity has bled over into much of her life, and while drawing animals brings her the most joy, she often pushes herself to try new subjects and techniques.
Erik's passion for chalk art began more than a decade ago in the driveway of his suburban Pittsburgh home, when his then-toddler-aged daughters, Jaycie and Jenna, first asked him to draw Mickey, Cinderella, Elmo and Eeyore. Those young art directors were very demanding and wanted more and more elaborate pieces. Erik soon became known as "The Chalking Dad" among his neighbors. Today, Erik — who in real life is a Certified Public Accountant working in corporate finance — is also a certified "master" chalk artist in the Florida Chalk Artist Association. He participates in street painting festivals around the world, where he joins other artists in creating large-scale, elaborate chalk drawings over several days.
Ever Galvez based in Los Angeles, CA. has been street painting for the past 20 years, and has travelled many places to create chalk art. He is very passionate about the arts and is looking forward to be part of this year's chalk festival and bring some colorful art to share with the community.
Gabriela Magdaleno is an Mexican artist. Since 2013 she has participated in many Madonnari and street art festivals within the country such as Jalisco, Guanajuato and Nayarit, and in Florida, Minessota and Georgia in the United States of America. Part of her work as her artist is to sensitize people of the importance of getting involved and transcending through art, as well as showing elements of the identity of people, places and traditions that strengthen culture.
Gloria Ing is an acclaimed SolCal-based disciplinary artist with a degree in Art Education and has been creating chalk murals for over 20 years around the west coast and at some of the largest chalk festivals across the US. She has taken Best of Festival at the world's largest chalk event in Pasadena, California. She brings both experience and excellence to her practice. She believes that everyone has an artistic side if they set their hearts and minds to it. She uses the sidewalk to help spark creativity, imagination, and innovation through the arts for people of all ages. Kendall Laurent is an emerging painter and mixed media artist currently working out of the Northeast Arts District in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Originally from Wisconsin, she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2019 and became a resident at the Casket Arts Building during the covid 19 pandemic in 2020. In her practice, Kendall is inspired by the human figure and the constant fluctuating state of a person’s sense of self. Having personal experience with identity dysphoria, her work explores how people grapple with transformations in their sense of self informed by both the physical and metaphysical world.
Kim is a visual artist located in the Midway neighborhood. She practices art through chalk, paint, and digital design. She finds inspiration on and off of beaten paths, from urban sidewalks to wildflower fields. In her art, she looks for balance between dark and light, movement and stillness, and reality and fantasy.
Mia Vue Jennings is a young Hmong-American artist based in the Twin Cities. She’s been creating art for as long as she can remember and her Hmong identity has been a huge inspiration and motivation for most of her work. Throughout her life, she’s worked with many different mediums, but her current focus is mainly on digital art, paintings, murals, and street art. Something that she always strives for in creating art is bringing joy and encouragement to others, because she believe that art always has the power to do good.
Nestor Mendoza
A master of 3D sidewalk chalk art, he combines digital precision with chalk’s ephemeral beauty to create interactive illusions that engage and inspire. His work, celebrated nationwide, reflects a decade of honing his craft and a deep connection to his Mexican heritage. Raghda Skeik is an award-winning realism artist and a calligrapher based in Minnetonka. Raghda is a self-taught artist who started her artistic journey in 2013 after finding herself under bed rest for a few months due to a back injury. Raghda was committed to art before she was able to go back to her old profession as a nurse. She’s been painting and teaching realism art at The Calli Art Studio since 2017 as well as volunteering in international medical missions. Her work was exhibited and recognized around the Twin Cities, Wisconsin, and Chicago. As a believer that art can bring people together, and be the gate toward unifying our differences, she had a series that represented part of her identity to feature the beauty of the common ground among religions. Currently, she is taking on a unique journey to share people's stories who were victims of wars in specific regions around the globe.
Sharyn is a self taught artist based in Santa Barbara California. She was formerly a champion motorcycle racer, computer scientist, dancer and choreographer. She's been creating art since the age of 3 when she was drawing animal illustrations. For many pieces she works solo, but she has also produced art while managing a team of artists for larger projects. Her mediums include chalk, acrylic paint, wax pastels and photoshop. She has a passion to create compelling beauty through her designs. Occasionally her art includes a touch of whimsy as well as beauty. In her personal art she's known for a wide variety of subjects often featuring animals, dance and symmetry.
Sıtkı has been painting street paintings professionally for about 10 years. He has improved himself in 3D street arts and is on his way to search for his art style.
Tara is a Minnesota-based chalk artist best known for creating hyper-realistic pieces that create drama or fun. She discovered her passion for chalk art while drawing on her driveway at home during the pandemic. Her art quickly gained recognition and she has since become known for her chalk art, fine art, and chalk art camps and programs.
Tim Blighton
Tim Blighton is a sidewalk chalk artist, poet, puppeteer and painter from Minneapolis, who occasionally uses surrealism and nature to interrogate beauty, love and self-worth in his art.
Shawn McCann
Shawn McCann explores the relationships among art, space, and interaction in his work. He graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a BFA, and has grown into a multi-media, multi-disciplinary artist whose work explores color, texture, form, and content. This approach has led him to explore diverse media, including street painting, murals, fine art, children’s books, installation art, and commercial illustration. He has been featured at numerous street painting festivals, has created exhibition-sized pieces and worked for corporate clients. Shawn’s work has won numerous awards, received NEA grants, and is held in private and public collections. He has been featured twice at the LA Times Festival of Books as a featured illustrator. A couple years ago, McCann was one of the few American artists chosen to participate in the Dubai Canvas, one of the most prestigious street art festivals in the world.
